Rose Barrett

Registry Officer - Reception

Rose Barrett

Rose was born in Peterborough in 1945, and educated at Stratton School in Bedfordshire.

Her first job was as a shorthand typist with H.M. Inspector of Taxes, Bedford. This was followed by senior secretarial roles, firstly at the national headquarters of the National Graphical Association, a Bedford-based trade union for craftsmen in the print trade, and then at the Head Office of the Pye Electronics Group in Cambridge.

Rose then worked with senior civil servants at H.B.M. Department of Environment, Malta, whilst based on the Island in the early Seventies. There followed a career break between 1972 and 1977 while her children were small, and during this time she came to live in Guernsey.

Rose then continued with a role as secretary to the sole partner in a local Chartered Accountancy practice (1977 to 1983) and then as secretary to the Managing Director of Tyndall Managers (Guernsey) Limited (1983 to 1987). From 1987 to 1997, she enjoyed a different kind of challenge, working for Total Oil in a sales and customer advisory role. This was followed by several years gaining experience in company administration within a small local trust company, which should set her in good stead for the new challenges ahead with the online Companies Registry.

Rose is married, the children now adults, and grandchildren growing up fast.”
